When we think of juicing, our brains may automatically think of a juice cleanse or worse, a juice fast! If you’re a foodie like me then the thought of drinking nothing but juice for 3 days or a week may turn you off the thought of juicing at all.
But hear me out for a moment. Adding even 1 fresh juice to your day can have immense benefits. And by adding a fresh juice, I mean you’ve juiced the veggies and fruits yourself 😉 Some of the benefits of juicing include nutrients entering your bloodstream almost instantaneously as there is no fibre to slow it down, clearer skin, and better digestion.
What you need to juice:
- a juicer (mine is an Omega Slow Masticating juicer, but you can find an option that best suits your needs)
- fresh, organic vegetables and fruits of your choice
That’s all! It really is so simple, yet the benefits are so profound. Some of my favourite things to juice are kale, parsley, beets, spinach, cabbage, apples, pears, and lemons. Oh and carrots. And ginger!! The possibilities really are endless and there is a definitely a combo that will work for you.
My Green Juice
In this concoction I have kale, parsley, carrots, lemon, apples, and pears.
The reason I recommend using organic vegetables and fruits is because you’re getting concentrated nutrients once you juice them, and you will want to avoid also getting concentrated pesticides and herbicides from produce that isn’t organic.
The hype around juicing is huge, and for good reason. It is a health habit that will benefit you for years to come. Like any new thing you try though, don’t give up if it doesn’t work out the first time. I’m pretty sure the first time I tried juicing I threw a banana and some strawberries in hoping for a smoothie. It takes time and mistakes will be made, and that is okay!
